In 1982, New Balance released a radical sneaker. The objective was ambitious: making the best running sneaker in the world. The 990 gained immediate critical acclaim upon its release. The 990v4—the silhouette’s most recent iteration—is the realization of over three and half decades of development; still implementing New Balance owner Jim Davis’ original brief to craft a sneaker that stands out as the very best of its kind. Formally released in 2016, the v4 keeps the original iconic shape and treatment with the introduction of a redesigned sole unit and minor updates to the upper pattern.
This collaboration is crafted in tonal nubuck and mesh construction featuring a textural contrast that highlights the silhouette’s nuanced colorway. Subtle 3M details, reflective secondary laces and custom logo-molded toggle enhance a versatile functionality that is core to this sneaker’s original identity.
